Watkins Books is a bespoke bookshop in the heart of London. Established over a century ago, it is now one of the world’s leading independent bookshops specializing in new, second-hand, and antiquarian titles in the field of the wellness and well-being including a variety of titles on the mind, body and spirit.

The Problem

The client approached us to create an eBook reader application for mind, body and spirit books by Watkins. The main objective of the application was for the readers to get access to the hand-selected spiritual books from the Watkins bookshop in London. It also included bestsellers, new releases and free books.

Solution

Our solution converted the existing book library to the next level of mobility. The user now had access to a wide range of spiritual book libraries at their fingertips. The solution we deployed included a user friendly book reading app that provided easy access without losing the realistic feel of reading a tangible book on a mobile device. Bookmarks and favorite pages were added as features to make the app more than just a reading tool. The additional features developed also enabled users to view spiritual sights and locations including places deemed paranormal on maps near the user’s current location.

Result Obtained

We created a beautifully designed and easy-to-use interface for reading spiritual magazines & books in the mobile application. The client also wished to keep readers active and engaged with the eBook application by offering: Books and Magazines: It allows the user to browse and download spiritual books, flip through the pages from the app, and share magazine with ease, through email, Facebook and Twitter. It efficiently customizes your reading experience, searching for texts, and look-up word definitions. Spiritual Sightings Map: There is a GPS-powered Spiritual Sightings Map, which enables the user to find spiritual and paranormal sites near their current location. All the locations are submitted by other Spiritual Map users, and allow them to share photos of their own sightings simply by filling out details under the 'Submit Report' feature.

ROI and Benefits

The key concept was to use apps that attract new users, and create a totally immersive experience through the brand. The app increased engagement and loyalty rates maintaining and sustaining activity. Users are also notified in the event new features are launched.
