Slick, Touch-Friendly User Interface
Late, but at last Microsoft has introduced multi-touch support for Window 7 phone for best browsing experience. You can move through touch motion, moving through menus, through documents and web pages etc. is easy with multi touch. Flicking a finger up and down, left and right has replaced conventional scrolling. Moving from the new tiled Home Screen in Windows Phone 7, will require a sweep of the finger to the left. The resulting screen is the redesigned Start Menu. There is the much needed pinch to zoom capability that adds fluidity in navigating the pages that are not explicitly built to be viewed in mobile.
Unique Hub based Interface Design
Majority of smart phones have grid based app icon layout but Microsoft has done some innovation and introduced its own Metro interface. There are six hubs, namely.

The People Hub aggregates friends from all of your social networks in three screens:
- Recent: Recent will show you friends who have just updated their profiles or statuses
- All: will show you all of your friends
- What’s New: quickly aggregates status updates all into a single feed
- You can also quickly share your own status update.
The Pictures Hub lets you see all of the pictures on your hub, your most recent pictures and what’s new with all of your friends. The phone will pick the latest pictures you uploaded or have taken with your phone.
The Office Hub lets you easily sync your documents between your phone and your PC. Office Hub comes with OneNote, for note taking, Documents, and SharePoint for presentation collaboration. Users will also have access to an Outlook Mail application which gives similar features, like flagging important e-mail, that you’d find on the desktop version.
Xbox Live
Today mobile phones are vastly used as gaming devices and currently there is almost no market for a separate handheld gaming device. The Xbox Live integration will allow your phone to be tied to your Xbox Live account. You can earn achievements, link up with friends and multiplayer turn based games. You can also retain your avatar using the platform.
Music Player
The Music and Video Hub acts as a Zune HD within the phone. The Zune HD owners will feel at home with its interface and Windows Phone 7 just follows every feature of the player. There are quick access to music, video, radio, pod casts and the Zune marketplace. The homepage makes an automated history of the most played contents and there are even the apps for music.
Start Screen
The start screen of the Windows Phone 7 offers shortcuts of the most frequently used apps and there will be a phone dialer and text messaging to individual contacts. The pictures will change with your most recent facebook photos. This new feature is named by Microsoft as ‘Live Tiles’.
Bing Maps
Other features are Bing Maps, which has some unique features that are on par with Google Maps. Bing Maps dynamically update with street-view photos, 3D graphics and directions. It also shows you real-time traffic updates and reviews of local businesses via Yelp.
