WP7 Hubs
Windows Phone 7 has a compelling feature and that is its deep integration with your digital contents, this is called Hubs. Imagine hubs as a folder where similar applications are grouped together into one section. But hubs go further than just grouping apps and actually merging your content together.
Hubs save you from constantly switching between the applications. Hubs are clearing house for the phone’s core functionality, broken down by genre. It is a unique concept and is found nowhere else on other mobile platforms. Third party developers can enhance them.
People hub
This hub delivers an engaging social experience by bringing together relevant content based on the person, including his or her live feeds from social networks like Gmail, Exchange, Facebook, Twitter, Windows Live, etc. and photos. It also provides a central place to post updates to Facebook and Windows Live in one step. There’s also a section here called "me" where you can view and edit your own statuses within your networks.
Pictures hub
It is an aggregate of your locally stored photos, cloud-based Facebook, Windows Live, or other connected picture galleries, and feeds of your contacts’ recently updated images. Pictures hub also allows you to participate with other social media like Facebook, Windows live, etc. by making comments on it or uploading photos. Photo apps can also plug into the Pictures hub to offer editing and sharing functions as well.
Games hub
This hub will be for those game lovers who are already playing Xbox LIVE games, as this hub will include Xbox LIVE experience on a phone, including Xbox LIVE games, Spotlight feed and the ability to see a gamer’s avatar, Achievements and gamer profile. There are impressive 3D XNA games shown off, complete with Xbox achievements and other features pulled in from Live.
Music + Video hub
This hub creates an incredible media experience that brings the best of Zune, including content from a user’s PC, online music services and even a built-in FM radio into one simple place that is all about music and video. Users can turn their media experience into a social one with Zune Social on your PC and share their media recommendations with like-minded music lovers. The playback experience is rich and easy to navigate, and immerses the listener in the content.
Office Hub
Microsoft Office Mobile includes mobile versions of Microsoft Office applications that are made for your Windows Phone 7. You don’t need to download or install anything else. Just go to the Office hub on your phone to open and work on your Microsoft Office documents.
Marketplace hub
It’s a one-stop shop for a variety of content from apps and Xbox games to music, and carriers will also have the ability to customize it by adding their own highlighted content. This hub allows the user to easily discover and load the phone with certified applications and games.
