Bookmytaxi was an offline taxi booking service available in the city of Ahmedabad. With growing demand for online taxi rentals, the clients had one vision for his business. They wanted to go digital and have an online portal for their clients not just in Ahmedabad, but across the country. They approached IndiaNIC to design a platform that would be modern, friendly and easy to use for both the drivers and riders.
While creating a user friendly design interface, we had to first understand our users and their mindset. We analyzed the information and knowledge our users i.e drivers and riders would have and then went to create a design that was relevant and easy to understand for drivers while onboarding their cars and for riders while booking their trips.
To enhance the UX, we created designs where riders can add multiple city destinations and stops while selecting their pick up and drop location. We also integrated a google map view of the designated route and the time on the road. This was an important feature as users usually open their maps to view the distance and time on the road. By integrating this in the platform itself, we simplified the booking and travel experience.
As one of our key users would be drivers, we wanted to provide an easy onboarding experience for them. These drivers could be anyone so it was crucial to provide the right information at the right time. We kept the screens minimal with only information that was important so that the drivers can complete their tasks with the least amount of effort.
Although this was a rather simplistic design interface, IndiaNIC’s challenge was to make sure that the client who was venturing into the digital world for the first time, understood functionality and features easily. We also suggested the client to develop a second phase of the platform to take Bookmytaxi to a defined new level.
